Michael Carter is an award-winning journalist and White House Correspondent for Newsmax, where he covers the Oval Office, attends daily briefings, and travels with the President to report breaking news.
Previously, he served as a Capitol Hill Reporter and National Correspondent, covering major stories such as the January 6th Capitol riot, Donald Trump’s New York City criminal proceedings, and the Kyle Rittenhouse trial among many others. He was embedded with the Trump campaigns of 2020 and 2024, and in 2024 led Newsmax’s primetime coverage of both the Republican and Democratic national conventions.
Known for his sharp eye for detail, sound editorial judgment, and compelling storytelling, Carter is a trusted and fair correspondent. He appears regularly across Newsmax platforms, occasionally fills in as an anchor, and has even reported live from Times Square on New Year’s Eve.
Before joining Newsmax, Carter worked at KATC in Louisiana (earning two AP Awards), KRDO in Colorado, iHeartRadio, MSNBC’s Morning Joe, and participated in NBC’s prestigious Page Program.
He holds an M.S. in Broadcast and Digital Journalism from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School and a B.A. in Fine Arts/Theater from Loyola Marymount University. He resides in Washington, D.C.
